It's not clear what the heroes will confront when they finally meet Bale's Gorr, but the teaser hints that the picture will have a similar tone to Thor: Ragnarok, with ferocious combat but also Waititi's distinctive odd comedy, like in Thor: Ragnarok.
In Thor: Love and Thunder, Natalie Portman reprises her role as Jane, and Thor refers to her as "the old ex-girlfriend" to Korg.
One-on-one battles between Valkyrie and Gorr are also hinted at in the teaser, with Valkyrie using a blazing lightning bolt in the foreground.
Thor: Love and Thunder, in which Bale will play the villain, is expected to include Gorr as one of Thor's most cruel and dangerous foes ever.
While Thor may be able to battle Gorr alone, the trailer hints that a squad of heroes will be needed to have any hope of victory.
With the release of Thor: Love and Thunder slated for July 8th, the fate of Thor and the other heroes versus Gorr the God Butcher has yet to be revealed, but fans won't have to wait long.
