Charlize Theron, who played Furiosa in Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), said that making the movie was one of the most challenging experiences of her life.

Charlize Theron, who plays Furiosa in the film Mad Max: Fury Road, muses on the difficult conditions in which the movie was shot.
Tom Hardy plays Max in the 2015 George Miller action/adventure picture, while Charlize Theron plays Furiosa, a new character in the series.
Most of Mad Max: Fury Road takes place during a single extended vehicle pursuit, and it follows Furiosa as she tries to aid the wives of a cruel warlord by leading them to safety.
The movie did well at the box office and with critics, so the producers decided to make a prequel called Furiosa.
In a recent interview with THR, Theron reflects on her time filming Mad Max: Fury Road, which she called "one of the toughest of my career," as excitement grows for the upcoming Furiosa prequel starring Anya Taylor-Joy.
The actor acknowledges that the difficult filming conditions may have been exactly what was required for the movie to turn out as well as it did.

Even though I stated, "Oh, as an actor, you want to be pushed," you don't want it to be that horrible.
(Laughs.)
The filming took a very, very long time.
I don't believe I'll ever accomplish anything again that requires that kind of stamina.
I have no idea how intensive the making of the prequel was, but I hope it was not too much like the original.
I feel terrible saying this because I never want any young actor or storyteller to think they need tragedy or sacrifice to be successful, but there was something about the circumstances around that film that I think gave it the magic.
This doesn't mean that similar circumstances will always present themselves, but I believe that the elusive "lightning in a bottle" actually occurred with that film.
However, it was really difficult.
Although Mad Max: Fury Road has received widespread praise as not just the finest in the genre, but also one of the best action pictures of all time, a genuine sequel has yet to be realized.
Mad Max: The Wasteland was said to be in production after the success of the original film, but there have been no official updates on the project in years.
Miller is currently in the post-production phase of Furiosa, but the plot he began in 2015 should be continued with Theron and Hardy reprising their roles.
When Max and Furiosa first meet, they are antagonists.
Due to their shared motivations, they form a hesitant alliance, but at the film's conclusion, they've amicably parted ways and Max has decided to pursue a nomadic existence.
Though many have speculated that Hugh Keays-Immortan Byrne's Joe would reappear in the prequel, played by Chris Hemsworth, the villain is actually killed off at the conclusion of the 2015 film.
Max and Furiosa may have to work together again to defeat a new enemy in the sequel, deepening their friendship in the process and giving fans a chance to learn more about Furiosa's rise to power inside Immortan Joe's society.
Hardy's straight-faced, man-of-few-words is perhaps best served when he is partnered with another more expressive character, however it would be intriguing to see a Mad Max: Fury Road sequel that instead focused on Max's life on the road in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
A sequel would benefit from exploring how each character has developed in the previous seven years, putting their on-screen cooperation to the test once more, despite the real-life conflicts between Hardy and Theron.
