Black Panther 2 Becomes One Of The Only 2022 Movies To Pass $300 Million In US

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the eighth film released in 2022 to gross over $300 million in North America.
The film, which premiered on November 11th, is the last theatrical release from MCU's fourth phase.
In it, notable Wakandans including Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright) struggle with the aftermath of Black Panther's death while also confronting a new danger from the undersea region of Talokan, commanded by the mutant Namor (Tenoch Huerta Mejia).

According to Deadline, the domestic total for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever increased by a massive $9.6 million on Tuesday, just before the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
A domestic total of $303.7 million is already confirmed, making it the eighth picture in 2022 to gross over $300 million.
The Batman, Top Gun: Maverick, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Jurassic World: Dominion, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Minions: The Rise of Gru are some of the other movies this year that have achieved this.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now in second place in the Multiverse of Madness, behind only Doctor Strange, which is set to be released in May.
While predictions had Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opening weekend somewhat higher than Doctor Strange's, the actual numbers were lower.
It debuted roughly $6 million behind, but with a smaller dip in week 2, it was able to bridge the gap significantly by this past Sunday, when it was just $2 million behind.

This solid performance during Thanksgiving week has put Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in the lead.
The 12-day total for Doctor Strange was $302.7 million, therefore the first picture has already been surpassed by the sequel by nearly precisely $1 million.
This doesn't prove that Wakanda Forever will win, but it does indicate that it will likely carry on the success of the original 2018 Black Panther at the box office.

However, Disney's animated feature Strange World, which was expected to be a major holiday rival this weekend, is underperforming.
This is no longer a major obstacle, thus box office for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever should continue to soar through the holiday weekend and into next week, when the next major release, Avatar: The Way of Water, will be released.
Even while Doctor Strange 2's box office is expected to remain strong in the yearly Top 5, if Black Panther plays its cards correctly, by then, it can have easily firmly established itself as the year's #1 MCU picture.
