Samantha Fink will be given a second season to improve her sobriety. According to Variety, Single Drunk Female has been renewed for a second season. In a press release, Freeform president Tara Duncan expressed her delight at the renewal of the breakout comedy series for a second season. "I'm excited to see what they have in store for Sam in Season 2 as she continues on her path to become her greatest self," Duncan remarked.
Freeform's programming philosophy, according to Duncan, is to provide "fun and exciting storylines that represent the high stakes and unlimited potential of new adulthood." Single Drunk Female, starring Sofia Black-D'Elia as Fink, a 28-year-old woman who has hit rock bottom due to her drinking problem and is forced to move back in with her mother (Ally Sheedy) to begin a court-ordered road to sobriety, epitomizes this sentiment.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a 100 percent approval rating, and it has received praise from critics and viewers for its honest and entertaining representation of sobriety and the road to it.
In addition to renewing Single Drunk Female for a second season, Freeform has given the green light to a new series called While You Were Breeding, based on Kristin Newman's memoir "What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding." Chelsea Frei will play Kacey, a single lady in her 30s who decides to travel the world after leaving the urban jungle of Los Angeles. The cast will also include Catherine Cohen, Alice Hunter, and Kosha Patel.
While Single Drunk Female has been renewed for a second season, fans of other Freeform shows are waiting with bated breath for updates on their favorite shows. Cruel Summer, a mystery show that has swiftly become a fan favorite, and Grown-ish have already been renewed for a fifth season; however, fans of Good Trouble are still waiting for word on a fifth season, which might be announced shortly.
Season 2 of Single Drunk Female will launch in the fall of this year, while Season 1 is currently available on Hulu.
