Slip, a Roku Original, is gaining a lot of traction, with four new actors joining the cast. Emily Hampshire, Tymika Tafari, Whitmer Thomas, and Amar Chadha-Patel will round out the main cast. The new cast will join previously confirmed star Zoe Lister-Jones, who also works as writer and director for the comedic series.
Slip, which is now filming in Toronto, will follow Lister-Jones' character as she time travels through several universes in order to rediscover herself and find peace in her perfectly wonderful marriage. While she tries to figure out what's best for her, it appears that the answer has always been right in front of her.
While we don't yet have character descriptions, we do know the names of the new characters. Hampshire, a former cast member of Schitt's Creek, will play Sandy. We're guessing that the people behind Slip will use Hampshire's precisely timed humorous edge to their advantage, as she is most known for her depiction of the cynical cashier Stevie Budd in the fan favorite comedy. Gina will be played by Tafari. With her previous ventures starring her in one-off episodes, this will be the actress's first leading part in a television show. Tafari has acted in films such as Revenge of the Black Best Friend, Murdoch Mysteries, and even gave her voice to the popular children's show Paw Patrol for an episode in 2013.
As Elijah, Thomas joins the cast. The comedian is best known for his hour-long HBO comedy special The Golden One and his role as Joe in the Aidy Bryant-led Hulu series Shrill. Stone Quackers, an FXX comedy series, used the actor's vocal skills. Finally, Chadha-Patel had a main role in the horror thriller Dashcam, as well as supporting roles in films like Disney's live-action Aladdin and The Wheel of Time series. Along with Slip, Chadha-Patel will be seen in the upcoming television series Willow, which is a sequel to the fan-favorite fantasy film from 1988.
Fans can expect a comedy treat as Lister-Jones' character, Mae Cannon, travels around many realities in search of her sense of purpose, thanks to all the new names attached to Slip. Dakota Johnson's TeaTime Pictures will make its television debut with this series. Below is the official synopsis for the show:
The seven-episode comedy series follows Mae Cannon (Lister-Jones), a 30-year-old woman who is restless inside a marriage that is completely functional. Mae will be followed on a fantasy adventure through parallel dimensions as she enters various relationships in the hopes of reuniting with her spouse and, ultimately, herself.
There is no set date for the publication of Slip at this time.
