In a press release, Freeform president Tara Duncan expressed her delight at the renewal of the breakout comedy series for a second season. "I'm excited to see what they have in store for Sam in Season 2 as she continues on her path to become her greatest self," Duncan remarked.
Freeform's programming philosophy, according to Duncan, is to provide "fun and exciting storylines that represent the high stakes and unlimited potential of new adulthood." Single Drunk Female, starring Sofia Black-D'Elia as Fink, a 28-year-old woman who has hit rock bottom due to her drinking problem and is forced to move back in with her mother (Ally Sheedy) to begin a court-ordered road to sobriety, epitomizes this sentiment.

In addition to renewing Single Drunk Female for a second season, Freeform has given the green light to a new series called While You Were Breeding, based on Kristin Newman's memoir "What I Was Doing While You Were Breeding." Chelsea Frei will play Kacey, a single lady in her 30s who decides to travel the world after leaving the urban jungle of Los Angeles. The cast will also include Catherine Cohen, Alice Hunter, and Kosha Patel.
